How to feel happier...

Buona giornata!

I hope all of you have had a wonderful week. Recently, I have been thinking about this idea that if we want to become truly Christlike we need to serve the people around us instead of wanting things for ourselves. As a mission rule

we aren't supposed to give money to beggars but we can give food. So yesterday we decided that from now on we will keep a few pieces of fruit with us so that we will always have something to give them.

As I get to know more people and try to understand how I can't really relate to many of the things that they have lived, I can only try to serve them and help them to be happier by sharing the time, energy, experiences, and knowledge I have been allowed to have. Amidst all the injustices and tragedies that surround us, I know that true charity isn't just going on a mission, but being willing to sacrifice for the benefit of others. This is something that I hope to better understand as I grow older, because I really do want to change myself into a better person so that I can help those around me more effectively.

Monday we talked with this man Pippo who is the head psychiatrist at a hospital here and he wanted to know what would make two young girls take a year and a half out of their lives, and how professing these religious truths honestly made us happy. It is an interesting thing, but I truly am happy while I am here, and not just because it's a year off from work and school, or because I get to see Roman architecture or eat the best ricotta in the world. It is because I actually believe that the religious truths I hold to will help people be happier, as they understand why they are here, where they came from, where they are going...etc.

Anyway, I encourage all of you to do something nice today for someone. I promise you will feel happier

Arrivederci,
Sorella Black
